Before I begin writing, numbers aren't everything. Many people think large number of followers = great content. But this isn't always the case. So please, blog because you enjoy doing it, not to reap in as many followers as possible.
However, sometimes it is nice to know that content you have spent a lot of time on is being read. Before I discovered the following methods, I had no idea how to increase the amount of people following my blog, and assumed it would just, well... happen. I couldn't have been more wrong. Now I am using these methods, my traffic - as said in the title - has increased hugely!
CREATE A TWITTER ACCOUNT
There is such an amazing community on Twitter, which I was totally unaware of, until just a few months ago. Since creating an account, I have met so many like-minded bloggers, and it such a great platform for both promotion and...

INTERACTION
In order to build a following and encourage people to visit your blog, you really need to interact with the rest of the community. A simple like, share or comment will show that you have recognised/appreciated somebody's content, which is always reassuring, and will often be returned. Take part in blogger chats (often daily on twitter), tell someone if you love their Instagram feed and leave comments on posts you have enjoyed! Speaking of...

COMMENTING ON POSTS? LINK YOUR BLOG!
I don't know about you, but when I'm browsing through comments, I am likely to click on links people have left, as their blog content is usually similar to that I have read. Therefore, to encourage people to do this further, I set my link out neatly, with this code:
Lauren | <a href="http://www.sincerelylaurenemily.co.uk/ ">Sincerely, Lauren Emily</a>
Which ends up looking like this:
Doesn't this look so much better? One simple click and they're on your blog. This is an effective way of interacting with bloggers, and also encouraging their readers to visit your blog, once they've finished reading the one you've commented on.
You can replicate by following this: Name | <a href="blog link">blog name</a>
Most bloggers start because they love to write. I did. I'm not saying to prioritise anything above, but to encourage people to read your content, you need to make it as aesthetically pleasing to promote as possible. Including a well-lit, sharp and relevant photo in your posts is sure to encourage people to click the content you've shared.
INVEST IN A USER-FRIENDLY TEMPLATE
It took me a long time to actually purchase a template. This was because I thought it would make little difference, and my blog could look good enough without this added expense. Nevertheless, I decided to take the plunge a little while ago and haven't looked back.
You usually find that bought templates are more user friendly, and you end up making you have spent back, as brands and affiliates are more likely to want to feature on a more professional looking blog!
I hope these tips help you, happy blogging!
