The Youtubers You Should Be Watching

For a long while, I fell out of love with YouTube. I won't go into details, but many of you who are active online, or watch the news, will be able to guess why.

In my early teen years, I would loyally watch the videos posted by all of the big channels. Zoe, Tanya Burr, Alfie Deyes etc... But as I grew up, I lost touch with the platform. I couldn't relate to the content anymore, becoming lost in the masses of followers that needed to be pleased with uploads. I kept thinking, perhaps I'm just getting too old for this now, and decided to move away from the platform.

However, recently I began to discover people who posted videos I could relate to in some way. If this was because they were a student, or simply posted content that I could watch and enjoy.

So, if you too have fallen out of love with YouTube, I recommend these to get back on track:

IF YOU'RE A STUDENT

Jack Edwards

Jack is fab, listen out for his puns - they always pop up in his videos! He's an English Student and provides an insight into his life at university, his videos ranging from room tours, to trying on clothes his subscribers ordered for him on ASOS (I highly recommend this one)

Eve Cornwell

Eve mixes humour with genuine insight into what it's like to be a student. As someone who is off to university in September, should all things go to plan, her videos have been fab in providing an idea of what moving out will be like, and what it's like to prepare for life afterwards, as she has just finished her final year.

IF YOU ENJOY VLOGS

The Michalaks

I didn't really want to put this channel underneath the title 'vlogs' - the work Stefan puts into the weekly videos is insane. Their work is more of an art-form, and takes my breath away every week. They deserve far more viewers than they currently have, but say they enjoy having a smaller community that genuinely love their work, rather than millions of followers. Seriously, have a look at their channel, I promise you will not regret it!

ExtraSunbeamsJess

Jess' vlog channel is fab to watch. She was a student at Edinburgh University, and is now doing a masters in London. I love her aesthetic, and she is always dressed beautifully. I especially love watching these videos whilst I'm doing mundane tasks such as answering emails, however you can also check out her main channel, SunbeamsJess, if you're not such a fan of vlogs on YouTube.

IF YOU'RE A BIT ARTSY

Will Darbyshire

Will's videos are so relaxing and crafted beautifully. He doesn't post as often as some, but when he does, they are so lovely. He is a very talented film-maker, and I definitely recommend that you have a look at his channel.

Dottie James

Dottie's channel is so inspiring. What I love about her videos is that they make you think. After watching them, I want to write and draw and create beautiful things (I can't draw. But it inspires me to try, at least.)

IF YOU ENJOY MUSIC

Dodie Clark

I love Dodie's music - both her covers and originals. She's a very talented musician, and I definitely recommend her EP on spotify. If you love soft sounding songs, with to-die-for harmonies, check this girl out.

StuffByJas

Jasmine has written a song for every month this year. They're always lovely, and best listened to through earphones. She has a very similar style to Dodie, and a very talented songwriter!

IF YOU NEED INSPIRATION FROM STRONG WOMEN

Lucy Moon

Lucy's videos on her capsule wardrobe are fab. Her style is so clean and minimalist, and she discusses lighthearted topics such as make-up, but also themes that need to be talked about more often, such as her experiences with periods and hormones.

Arden Rose

Arden is the girlfriend of Will, who I mentioned above. I love her videos because she is unapologetically herself. She makes videos on topics most would be afraid to cover, such as contraception, and isn't afraid to discuss exactly what is on her mind.
